A little information about us.

I am a member of the Great Dane Club Of Northern California

I have shown dogs since I was 12 years old. I started out in rough collies, but always had a dane at home. In my late teens I got out of showing dogs for awhile and into showing horses. I showed in many disciplines including, Hunters, Pleasure and Barrel racing. I still have my 26 year old mare Gracie that has been with me since the beginning as well as 21 year old Tex who showed me what speed and turns are all about. Both are retired to the pasture now and living their life as pampered pets.

I got back into showing in 2002 and bought a beautiful harlequin male Destiny’s Urbane Legend V Xcel from Xcel Kennels in Kentucky, Lisa was fantastic to deal with and is still a great friend. Unfortunately for Bane his ears did not stand so he was only shown a couple times.

When I started to look again for a show pup, I was directed by many people to Buckland and Almosta Kennels. I was fortunate that Pam and Dawn had just bred a litter and had a mantle show girl available. Not only was she just what I was looking for in looks, but something about her grabbed my heart and would not let go. So Ava * BISS.AM.INTL. CH. Blk Almosta Avatar V Destiny* was shipped to me from Missouri, and after a lot of back to school training for me and lots of support from Dawn and Pam, Ava and I hit the ring and did not look back. To this day Ava is the only mantle Bitch in the history of the breed to ever go Best In Specialty show.

I continue to learn daily about the breed and always strive to put my best foot forward not only in the ring but outside it as well. When breeding I maintain the strictest standards and health test all my dogs doing OFA hips and elbows, Heart, Eyes and Thyroid as well in the hope that I will continue the example my mentors have set for me and only improve the breed.
